Korean-born violinist Mi-Sa Yang was born and raised in Osaka, Japan. Mi-Sa was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) in chamber music after having completed her studies with Olivier CHARLIER and Jean-Jacques KANTOROW in the "Violin Concertist" cycle at the CNSMDP.
Mi-Sa has won prizes in various international competitions:1st Prize at the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists in 2000.3rd Prize and Special Jury Prize at the Sendaï International Music Competition in 2001.1st Prize in trio (piano, violin and cello) at the 55th Maria Canals International Music Competition in Barcelona in 2009.
Since her orchestral debut at the age of 12 in Japan, she has performed with prestigious orchestras (Suk Chamber Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Century Orchestra Osaka), as well as in recital.
In 2018, she performed in concerto with the Sinfonia Varsovia in Bruch's Scottish Fantasy in E-flat major Opus 46 at the Folle Journée de Nantes, Ekaterinburg and Japan. She also performed in recital with pianist Jonas Vitaud.
Together with Adam Laloum and Victor Julien-Laferrière, she founded the piano trio Trio Les Esprits, with whom she performed at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Klavier-Festival-Ruhr, La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festspiele, at the Théâtre d'Arras, at the Théâtre de la Criée in Marseille, at Radio France for Stéphane Goldet's program "Lettres Intimes", at the Théâtre de Saint Nazaire, at the Soirées Musicales de Tours, at the Festival de Menton and at the Nuits Musicales du Morbihan.
Since 2014, she is the member of the Ardeo Quartet which was selected by ECHO "Rising Star" 2014. The quartet has already had the opportunity to play in the greatest halls in Europe: the Amsteram Concertgebouw, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Philharmonie de Paris and the Kölner Philharmonie. In 2018, the Ardeo Quartet will perform at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord and the Musikfest Bremen, among others. A recording of the Goldberg Variations (transcription for string quartet by François Meïmoun) was released in May 2018 for the IBSclassical label.
Trio les Esprits' two recordings released by Mirare in 2014 and 2017 have received critical acclaim. Soon to be released are a Schubert album for Sony Music and an album devoted to Mozart sonatas, in duet with Jonas Vitaud.
