Place Jean Mermoz

Each year, a giant green dinosaur is installed in the heart of the city in the gardens opposite the Tourist Information Office, in reference to the Vaches Noires cliffs, a paleontological deposit of great scientific renown where fossils of 'a pliosaurs 10 meters long, an ichthyosaur, a marine "crocodiles", but also ammonites, sea urchins and sponges.
This green dinosaur has become over the years a real emblem of the station. The colossus, 12 m long and 7 m high, consists of an iron frame filled with 6 tonnes of soil where 9.000 plants grow: 7 green pyrethes for the upper part of the body and 000 alternantheras or rubras for the below.
It is set up in June, so that these plants grow enough, by the city's green spaces service, which removes it in November. His return and his installation gives rise to a long-awaited celebration which announces the start of summer!
It should be noted that for some time now, the dinosaur dad has been accompanied by his young. A real landmark in the resort, it is admired by visitors who have made it their main target for their souvenir photos.
