Visit to the aptly named hotel restaurant Bellevue

Another inDeauville partner!

Villerville cultivates pretty stories with the hotel industry. It starts with the Hôtel des Parisiens, located in the heart of the village, and famous for its "five o'clock" and stays by Oscar Wild or Mistinguett. We are still talking about it! The Hôtel des Bains alias the Hôtel Stella, held for the duration of a film by Suzanne Flon and Jean Gabin rose to fame in the film A monkey in winter. The Bellevue hotel owes its letters of nobility to the one who built it, Léo Carvalho, opera singer married to the singer Caroline Felix-Miolan, who led a brilliant career in Paris as director of theaters, including the famous Opera- Comical. A vacation for a couple passionate about music, at the turn of the century it became a hotel with an evocative name: the Bellevue hotel. The panoramic sea view is breathtaking from the bedrooms, the dining room or the terrace. There a black pine from Austria adds to the romanticism of the place. Its tortured form has given it the status of an extraordinary tree. It arouses curiosity and admiration.

CULTIVATING THE DIFFERENCE

Nicolas Donot acquired the Bellevue hotel in 2016. He was then already the owner of the Saint James hotel in Trouville-sur-Mer, a British and cozy address which has so much charm that it made him switch to the hotel industry. We are in 2009. He is then a broker in American stocks, secondary resident in Trouville. He became a hotelier and settled permanently on the Côte Fleurie.
Nothing predestined him for this career except a great desire for a professional break, an almost visceral attachment to Saint James and the conviction that "when you know how to receive at home, you know how to receive elsewhere".

The two addresses have in common that they are old residences that are more like a family house than a hotel. Everyone has their own story or stories that are told by the fireside. They are also both hotels on a human scale where the motto is simple: "anything is possible, you just have to ask".
"The beautiful view of the sea is essential but not enough. The atmosphere matters a lot more. We take care of people and we try to anticipate their desires. We try to find out what can make them happy before they arrive. ". This state of mind is now the success of the Bellevue, where we want to linger longer and come back quickly.

SIMPLE AND CHIC

When Nicolas Donot bought it in 2016, Le Bellevue consisted of the original house and the annexes built in the 90s. It needs to be renovated and suffers from too little investment. Twenty eight rooms facing the sea make it up, including six suites and ten superior rooms. In four years, two thirds of them have been redone: comfort, simplicity of decoration, light furniture, touches of color or design invite calm. All the beds have been replaced facing the windows for a wake-up call to the horizon.
Since then, the renovation has continued. Soon the living room furniture, the masterly staircase, worthy of a museum, will be reviewed.
Many customers of the Bellevue are regulars who frequent it from one to three times a year. The attractive range of derivative products attests to their attachment to the place and their desire to take a little bit of it with them when they leave.

The place is very easy to access. Its restaurant under the veranda facing the sea, and its menu which changes every day is an asset for those who no longer want to move once their suitcases have been put down.
Everything here is homemade, from the starter to the pastry shop. The restaurant bears the "Maître restaurateur" label which distinguishes home cooking, the use of raw and seasonal products that are mainly fresh, the quality of service and hospitality, the quality of the dishes, hygiene ... less than thirty criteria in total which avoid wondering about the content of his plate. The plates are delicious. Prices more accessible on Mondays and Fridays with a € 20 formula.

The Chef makes his bread and favors local production: the Domaine des Roches Noires and the Ferme de Villerville are his privileged partners in this process. He also cites Huîtres de la Calvadosienne, a shellfish farming company from the Côte de Nacre where disabled people are employed. A henhouse and an herb garden should soon see the light of day.

VILLERVILLE

The other asset of Bellevue is Villerville, a charming village too, climbed on the cliff of Roches Noires. Its small streets converge towards the sea and the dike that runs along it. Many artists have always found a haven of peace in this fishing village. The artistic dynamic led by the inhabitants and the City continues in the hotel lounges during the Festival in Villerville. Nicolas Donot would like to invite ceramists and craftsmen to be inspired and to produce at his place.
