Adrien Van Melle

Guest of the 2021 L'Appel du Large festival

Adrien Van Melle was born in 1987 in Paris where he lives and works. Its production mixes literature with various plastic practices and confronts the viewer with narrative and fictional environments. He works with fiction as a material in its own right by interweaving writing, photography, installation and video. After studying at Hunter College in New York and at the ENS (École Nationale Supérieure) Louis-Lumière, he graduated in 2017 from the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Since then, he has created and made evolve characters thought of as an extension of himself, like an arborescence of plastic possibilities that the artist does not wish to abandon or exclude. He then seizes them entirely to transform them into work and maintain their nature in the making. Adrien van Melle is also an editor and curator, he founded with Sébastien Souchon the extensible editions and AU LIEU, an independent exhibition space in Paris.

As part of the L'Appel du Large festival which will take place from July 2 to 4, 2021, a performative work by Adrien Van Melle is scheduled. More information on L'Appel du Large here.
