Adrien Van Melle
Artist

Guest of the festival L'Appel du Large 2021
Adrien Van Melle was born in 1987 in Paris where he lives and works. His work mixes literature with various plastic practices and confronts the viewer with narrative and fictional environments. He works with fiction as a material in its own right, intertwining writing, photography, installation and video. After studying at Hunter College in New York and the ENS (École Nationale Supérieure) Louis-Lumière, he graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2017. Since then, he creates and evolves characters thought as an extension of himself, such a tree of plastic possibilities that the artist does not wish to abandon, or exclude. He then takes them over entirely to transform them into works of art and maintain their nature in the making. Adrien van Melle is also a publisher and curator, he founded with Sébastien Souchon the editions extensibles and AU LIEU, an independent exhibition space in Paris.
