A concert with commentary by the Xénakis Trio for schools
This week, the soloists of the Easter Festival were back in Deauville for a new residency. On this occasion, the Xénakis Trio gave a concert with commentary to the students of the Maurois and Mozin high schools at the Salle des Fêtes.
An awareness of classical music
The Xénakis Trio offered college students an introduction to classical music in the form of a concert and a meeting with the musicians to discover the instruments played by the trio (percussion) and the works performed. The Xénakis trio revisits the repertoire and masterpieces of contemporary music by highlighting the diversity and multiple facets of percussion.
On the program:
Dante Agostini (1921 - 1980) - The Train (1970)
Minoru Miki (- 1930) - Marimba Spiritual (1983)
Alexej Gerassimez ( - 1987) - Asventuras
Thierry de Mey (-1956) - Table music (1987)
Steve Reich (-1936) - Clapping Music (1989)
Eugene Novotney (- 1960) - Intentions (1983)

Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1844 - 1908) - The Flight of the Bumblebee (1899-1900)

The Xénakis Trio
Composed of percussionists Adélaïde Ferrière, Emmanuel Jacquet and Othman Louati, the Xenakis Trio's primary guideline is to revisit the repertoire through the masterpieces of contemporary music by honoring the infinite diversity of the timbre of percussion.
Graduates of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, the three performers share a passion for chamber music and the discovery of this infinite instrumentarium, which is in turn melodic, percussive, or eclectic, and which will take concrete form in 2018 with their entry into residency at the Fondation Singer-Polignac.
Paying homage to Iannis Xenakis, one of the first composers to highlight the instrument in a soloist light with a mathematical and rhythmic complexity never seen before, this ensemble explores the works of the last century, following the evolution of musical aesthetics up to contemporary creation today.
