The Call of the Large
An artistic adventure on the shores of Deauville.

As a tribute to the famous eponymous poem by Charles Baudelaire, Deauville inaugurates the L'Appel du Large festival and its original creations dedicated to urban and contemporary arts. For this first edition, nearly 30 artists invest and sublimate the symbolic places of Deauville in poetic stories along a fanciful journey to experiment with new artistic practices. At the Bains Pompéiens, by the sea, inside the famous cabins and in the blue of the sky, L'Appel du Large has chosen an intergenerational and heterogeneous program combining installation, sculpture, painting, performance, scenography, dance and song. In the form of a route, the public is invited to take a stroll in the open air, along the beach and Les Planches to discover the works of the artists.

THE HORIZON AS A SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
After exhibiting in Paris, New York, London, Tokyo and Berlin, the artists spread their art in Deauville on the theme of the horizon, evocative of a whole imagination between dream and reality, at the crossroads of the ordinary and the sensitive. A horizon less utopian, less idealistic than yesterday; but as the artists of L'Appel du Large testify, it is still possible to dream of new horizons.

ACCESS TO ART FOR ALL
The festival's unifying mission, L'Appel du Large is committed to raising awareness among young audiences about art and enabling them to experience contemporary creation by increasing the number of exceptional encounters with artists. This initiation takes the form of two plastic arts workshops, one led by artist Elsa Lefebvre for a class from a college belonging to the priority education network, and the other led by Fleur Offwood for teens with disabilities.

THE OFFSHORE APPEAL COMMITTEE
