Beginning of September, in Deauville

ALL ABOUT FESTIVAL OF AMERICAN CINEMA DEAUVILLE

Since its creation in September 1975, the Festival has been the unmissable rendezvous for the return to film, with the presentation of around a hundred films and the presence of American actors and directors in Deauville. The Festival highlights the diversity of American cinema, from Hollywood productions to independent cinema films. It is open to the public and favors the meeting between cinema professionals and cinema enthusiasts.

In the 70s, Deauville's high season took place mainly in August, with the racing season. The ultimate elegance was to come the day of the Grand Prix, the last Sunday in August, with his suitcases in the car and part directly from the racetrack towards Biarritz where the season continued during the first week of September. Lucien Barrière will financially help this project in order to create: The American Cinema Festival, from September 2 to 7, 1975. The success is immediate. But spectators want more, and want to see their favorite actors in the flesh.
It was not until 1978, after much negotiation with artists, that John Travolta, Olivia Newton John and the whole team came to present the film just shot: Grease.
Since that year, the festival has continued to evolve and create sections; Films in Premieres, films in Competition, meetings with the film teams, Documentaries ...
