A polo lesson
to improve

In this course, Evrard de Spa brings his expertise to riders in search of the perfect gesture. Working on your gestures, accompanying the ball, specifying your forehand or backshot while giving blind confidence in your horse, everything is in the search for detail, but above all good timing. The rider's performance mainly focuses on dexterity and speed; for this, it is necessary to have a good mastery of riding and to be certified at least of a gallop 4.

During this lesson, no mallet, no group; this private riding lesson in argentina is only for a single rider with an adventurous soul, lucky to learn more about the history of the gaucho.

The rules of polo

But before getting started, how is polo played? On a ground of 275m long and 145m wide, two teams of four riders try to send a plastic ball into the opposing goal, using a mallet consisting of a hardwood head placed in the end of a long bamboo cane. In a match, there are 4 or 6 periods (chukkas) of 7 minutes 30 each, interspersed with 3-minute breaks during which the rider changes his mount. After each goal scored or "goal", the teams change sides on the field and the game resumes with a throwing ball in the center of the field. When to start playing polo? "As soon as you are old enough to hold a mallet and hit a ball," Evrard laughs.
