TOUQUES - JUNE 15, 2024

The medieval city invites you to relive the era of the Dukes of Normandy, the Vikings, the troubadours and the knights during a ball & fire show.

Every year, Touques plunges back into the past to celebrate its heritage as the second largest city in Normandy during the Middle Ages. The town is decked out in medieval colors for an evening followed by a grand fireworks display. It's an opportunity to discover the town's history through the daily lives of the peasants of the time, as well as the acrobats and men-at-arms.

On the program:
From 7pm, a grand medieval ball will be held in the Parking du Lavoir. It will be led by a troupe of joyful jugglers: the Carité de Guingamor.
A dancing master will guide both novice and experienced participants through the steps of pavanes, branles and gaillardes.
The costumes, faithfully recreated according to the fashions of the time, will immerse spectators in the medieval atmosphere.
At 11 p.m., the evening continues with the Arche en Sel fire show, presenting its new show entitled IMOOGI.
The act features hornless creatures, winged humanoids and fire snakes, moving between stardust and hypnotic spirals.
The "Imoogi" people will dance in the hope of one day transforming into dragons...

Touques, a medieval town with a rich history
The town's heyday came during the late Middle Ages. Thanks to its dynamic port, Touques became an essential passage for Dukes and Kings on their way to England. This, combined with the exploitation of the town's 52 saltworks, led to a considerable economic boom for Touques in the 13th century.
The first Duke of Normandy, the Viking Rollon, fortified the castle of Bonneville sur Touques to protect himself from sea attacks. Later, William the Conqueror gathered his barons here to finalize strategies for the conquest of England.
