SILHOUETTES DE DEAUVILLE - OPEN AIR EXHIBITION
by Isabelle Barthel and Simonne L'Hermitte

A PARADE OF LEADING FIGURES ON THE BOARDWALK OF DEAUVILLE
In summer 2019, discover the stories of 26 leading figures of Deauville on the Boardwalk, along the beach they loved so much. An open-air original exhibition made up by two contemporary artists invites you to see Deauville from the perspective of those who forged its story.
Simonne L’Hermitte and Isabelle Barthel, painters and illustrators, have chosen 26 known and unknown personalities that have loved, created, written, painted, played, dreamed and lived memorable moments during their occasional or frequent stays in Deauville. Two artists with complementary career backgrounds draw 26 real-size personalities on the left door of the sea cabins; the link between these figures and Deauville is revealed on the right door of the cabin with original descriptions written by Philippe Normand.

14 women:
Sophie Troubretzkoï, Gabrielle Chanel, Isadora Duncan, Joséphine Baker, Suzy Solidor, Colette, Rita Hayworth, Françoise Sagan, Anouk Aimée, Anne d’Ornano, Jane Birkin, Diane Barrière-Desseigne, Christiane Head, Sandrine Kiberlain.

12 men:
Le Duc de Morny, Eugène Boudin, Guillaume Apollinaire, Vaslav Nijinski, Tsuguharu-Léonard Foujita, Van Dongen, Raoul Dufy, Joseph Kessel, Jean Gabin, Maurice Chevalier, Lucien Barrière, Yves Saint Laurent.

GUIDED VISITS OF THE EXHIBITION
Discover the Boardwalk and the leading characters of the exhibition every Wednesday and Saturday with the tour guides of the Micro-Folie Deauville. It’s a nice opportunity to listen to stories and anecdotes about all these figures.

An exhibition produced and organized by the cultural service of the city of Deauville.
