Valentine's Day: Claude Lelouch and you

Saturday, February 10, a "Chabadabada"-style day

1965. A pier, a man. A beach, a woman. Lighthouse calls. A couple embracing to the rhythm of a passionate Chabadabada . Images anchored in everyone's mind and in the cinema. Countless awards, including the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and Best Original Screenplay, revealing Claude Lelouch and the seaside resort to the world. And what better occasion for the director to return to his first love, Deauville, than Valentine's Day? A pleasure shared with you, young and not-so-young lovers, families and friends, on the now century-old Planches, and at Les Franciscaines, to relive the timeless story ofUn Homme et une Femme.

11h00 - A cinephile stroll

On the boards of Deauville

Forty years later, on September 5, 2006, a square was named "Place Claude Lelouch" in his presence, as well as those ofAnouk Aimée, Francis Lai and Pierre Barouh. And not just any square: after passing alongside theHôtel Barrière Le Normandy*****, the Casino Barrière de Deauville and the Centre International de Deauville, Place Claude Lelouch marks the entrance to Les Planches. This is where the director meets the public, in the company of Stéphane Boudsocq, RTL film journalist and deputy editor-in-chief. From then on, stories of filming and confessions of personal memories will enrich this walk, where a well-known Ford Mustang 184 will cross their path, before closing the morning by tasting a cake in the effigy of the 100 years of Les Planches created by local chef Myriam Guédrat.

These boards are so closely linked to my life and career. I owe them an infinite debt of gratitude. I'm delighted that Deauville continues to shine around the world, and that Un homme et une femme contributes to it again and again.

3:00 pm - A discussion on film music

In the Franciscan Chapel

Intimate and conducive to shared moments with the public, the Chapelle des Franciscaines is the ideal place to listen, discover, be moved and soften by the life of Claude Lelouch. Secrets, backstage anecdotes, the importance of music in cinema - including the resounding success of the soundtrack composed by Francis Lai - the director tells Stéphane Boudsocq everything. At the end of the meeting, he will be delighted to sign his anthology box set"Claude Lelouch : 60 ans de cinéma".

7:30 pm - An exceptional evening

In the Franciscan Cloister

To dine in the Franciscan cloister is to enjoy the unique experience of a historic site at nightfall, when visitors leave the premises. To the sound of a live concert, a creative and singular gastronomic buffet stands among the guests, surrounded by the illuminated arcades of the former convent. Then, as the lights dim, the magic begins, giving way to an endless waltz under the stars of the glittering chandelier. Happy Valentine's Day!
