DEAUVILLE - May 26, 2023

COWES-DEAUVILLE
The regatta is contested by English and French boats, with the Deauville Yacht Club as the finishing port.

On the agenda for the British and French skippers: a 100-mile cross-Channel race, often in fog. Sailing at night, combined with the numerous currents to be overcome, makes for a difficult and technical event.
Divided into four classes of yachts, the crews challenge each other over a weekend between the ports of Cowes, on the Isle of Wight, and Deauville.

The regatta starts on Friday morning and finishes in the evening. The official prize-giving ceremony takes place on Sunday morning at the Deauville Yacht Club.

Organized jointly by the Royal Southern Yacht Club, the Royal London Yacht Club and the Deauville Yacht Club, with the support of the City of Deauville, this race has brought together some fifty British and French crews every year since its creation in 1962. The success and conviviality of these meetings led to the twinning of the towns of Cowes and Deauville two years later in 1964.
