Barlen Pyamootoo

Barlen Pyamootoo was born in 1960 on Mauritius. His family fled the island, the ruined sugar mills and unemployment in 1976. Direction Strasbourg where he taught literature until 1993. Since 1994, he lives between Paris and Trou-d'eau-douce (Mauritius). He himself adapted and produced Varanasi for cinema in 2006: it is the first Mauritian film, interpreted by Mauritian actors and shot in Creole.

At Editions de l'Olivier, he published Varanasi (1999) The Tower of Babylon (2002) Salogi's (2008).
