Not the kind to roll shoulders on the pontoons boasting of being one of the very rare sailors of the Figaro circuit. Claire, 37, cultivates a good spirit in contact with her training buddies from the Finistère Course au Large Pole. "We exchange a lot between us, there is more to gain than to go to war." An all-Olympic attitude forged by his selection in match racing at the London 2012 Olympics.
A sacred experience lived as the culmination of a collective project started ten years earlier which binds unwavering friendships with its teammates. The girlfriends are already the banner under which Claire engages in competition from college. She practices the hand there but the virus infiltrates insidiously from its first edges on the boat of her uncle affiliated with the club of Courseulles-sur-Mer. She resisted the family learning of sailing under the leadership of her father, in the company of her cousin. "We were getting yelled at but we both continued!"
A revelation that she tweaks on instinct, making her follow an atypical path in the middle of ocean racing. "I arrived at the Olympics without ever having followed the dinghy track, only driven by our number one results in world match-racing." A sesame for the rather closed club of solitaires. A desire for solo practiced recently for an adrenaline boost and for the personal challenge. Novice of the 2013 edition, Claire admits with a burst of laughter that she has not yet mastered all the tempos of this legendary race, which unearths the best offshore racing skippers. With confidence, although she sometimes feels that she is missing some, the sailor manages her offshore racing projects as a young entrepreneur. "I needed a structure to manage funding and the various partners."
Multifaceted, competition invades Claire's life. A little admiring of the "engineer boy skippers" who tinker with enthusiasm and display their enthusiasm for technology. Claire decompresses once on the ground, forgetting the rhythm "boat, job, dodo." With a pint, creating lamps in recycled materials or china in flea markets, she shakes up the archetype of the racing sailor.
