Alex Potter
Singer
After beginning his musical career as a chorister at Southwark Cathedral, Alex Potter was a choral scholar and studied music at New College, Oxford. He then went on to study singing and baroque practice at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Gerd Türk and took additional courses with Evelyn Tubb.
Recent performances include Bach's Mass in B minor with the Concertgebouw Orchestra/Philippe Herreweghe, Handel's Israel in Egypt at the Vienna Konzerthaus with Concerto Copenhagen/Lars Ulrik Mortensen, a Bach and Telemann concert with Arcangelo/Jonathan Cohen at Wigmore Hall, and Benjamin Britten's Abraham and Isaac with tenor Thomas Hobbs in Vancouver, Canada.
Alex Potter has an extensive discography with a number of different ensembles. Among others, he appears as soloist on the recent recording of Bach Cantatas with Philippe Herrewghe/Collegium Vocale Gent. A new recording of solo cantatas by Telemann will be released this year on the CPO label.
