Alex Potter

Singer

After starting his musical career as a chorister at Southwark Cathedral, Alex Potter was a fellow in choral singing and studied music at New College, Oxford. He then pursued studies in singing and baroque practice at the Schola Cantorum in Basel with Gerd Türk and followed additional lessons with Evelyn Tubb.

Among his recent performances are the Bach Mass in B minor with the Concertgebouw Orchestra / Philippe Herreweghe, Handel's Israel in Egypt at the Konzerthaus in Vienna with Concerto Copenhagen / Lars Ulrik Mortensen, a concert by Bach and Telemann with Arcangelo / Jonathan Cohen at Wigmore Hall and Abraham and Isaac by Benjamin Britten with tenor Thomas Hobbs in Vancouver, Canada.

Alex Potter has a great discography with a number of different ensembles. Among others, he appears as a soloist on the recent recording of the Bach Cantatas with Philippe Herrewghe / Collegium Vocale Gent. A new solo cantata disc by Telemann will be released this year on the CPO label.
