member of the Palmarès Jury of the 47th American Film Festival

Actor, Director, Screenwriter, Writer

"I find in the serious enclosure of a film, the pure pleasure of childhood started more than fifty years ago."

A former student of the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art, Denis Podalydès became a resident of the Comédie-Française in 1997, then a member of the troupe in 2000, a few months after receiving the Molière for theatrical revelation for his role in "Le Révizor" by Gogol, directed by Jean-Louis Benoit. In parallel with his rich career as an actor on the boards, but also as a writer, screenwriter and director awarded in this title at the Molières in 2007 for "Cyrano de Bergerac", he multiplies the roles on television and in the cinema . He has appeared in more than a hundred films, notably under the direction of Arnaud Desplechin, Diane Kurys, Michael Haneke, Alain Resnais and his brother Bruno, with whom he co-wrote several feature films. Denis Podalydès was nominated in 2003 for the César for best actor in a supporting role for his performance in Kiss Who You Want by Michel Blanc, before being nominated in 2012 for the César for best actor for Xavier Durringer's The Conquest, then in 2019, to that of Best Supporting Actor for Plaire, J'aime et Running Fast by Christophe Honoré.
