Denis Podalydès
membre du Jury Palmarès du 47e Festival du Cinéma Américain
Actor, Director, Screenwriter, Writer
"I find in the serious confines of a film, the pure childhood pleasure begun more than fifty years ago."
A former student of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique, Denis Podalydès became a resident of the Comédie-Française in 1997, then a member of the troupe in 2000, a few months after receiving the Molière for theatrical revelation for his role in Gogol's "Le Révizor", directed by Jean-Louis Benoit. In parallel to his rich career as an actor on the stage, but also as a writer, scriptwriter and director, for which he received a Molière award in 2007 for "Cyrano de Bergerac", he has taken on many roles on television and in the cinema. He has played in more than a hundred films, notably under the direction of Arnaud Desplechin, Diane Kurys, Michael Haneke, Alain Resnais and his brother Bruno, with whom he co-wrote several feature films. Denis Podalydès was nominated in 2003 for the César for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Embrassez qui vous voudrez by Michel Blanc, before being nominated in 2012 for the César for Best Actor for La Conquête by Xavier Durringer, and then in 2019, for Best Supporting Actor for Plaire, aimer et courir vite by Christophe Honoré.
