THE PAINTING IN NORMANDY COLLECTION AT THE FRANCISCAINES
Created in 1992 on the initiative of the Regional Council of Normandy, Alain Tapié, then Curator of the Caen Museum of Fine Arts, and private partners, the association Peindre en Normandie now has 185 works. This unique collection, a cultural ambassador for the Normandy region, has been on deposit at the Franciscaines since 2020. Some of the works are exhibited in three thematic Universes: Deauville, Horse and Art of Living, and this fall, in the Gallery of Masters. Alain Tapié, director of the collection, curates exhibitions and creates strong cultural links with partners to promote and disseminate this collection in France and abroad. The circle of patrons, members of the association Peindre en Normandie, chaired by Jacques Belin, plays an essential and dynamic role in the acquisition of new works and the implementation of international projects. Thus, after Japan, Latvia and Italy, China is hosting 41 works from the collection, on a travelling basis, in four major Chinese museums until May 2022.
