Patrick Timsit plays "Le Livre de ma mère" in Deauville
In a register that we do not know him, Patrick Timsit shares with modesty and emotion his reading of Albert Cohen's humanist masterpiece.
Thanks to him and director Dominique Pitoiset, Le Livre de ma mère, a song of love and mourning, an ode to all mothers, becomes a show that shakes up the part of childhood that is in each of us.

It is a very fine and remarkable work. We are moved, we admire the sensitivity and the rigor of Patrick Timsit, a deep and very nuanced actor who carries this unique story.
He waited thirty years.

One day, a young actor named Patrick Timsit read Le livre de ma mère. He immediately knew that this text would never leave him.
And vice versa.
Season after season, he read it, reread it, annotated it, ruminated on it. Silently or out loud. Often alone and sometimes in public. Like a sort of half-shared secret. With time, the young actor made his way, gained stature, found success. But he always kept this book in a corner of his head and his heart.
He waited thirty years.
Thirty years will have passed before two essential things happen. The first is intimate: one day, quite simply, Patrick Timsit knew that he was ready - and that it was time. That it was now time to move from the dream to its realization, from the text to its incarnation. At about the same time, the second event occurred: the performer found his director.
With his extraordinary vision of Cyrano de Bergerac - a staging that we can safely call historic - Dominique Pitoiset had just offered Philippe Torreton one of the great roles of his life. He was already working on a second project with the same actor when his path crossed that of Patrick Timsit... Was it a happy coincidence or a masked necessity? These two, in any case, found each other at the right time.
