Exhibition: The beaches and the seashores of Deauville, 1840-2022
Between the beach and boulevard Eugène Cornuché, the Deauville seashores are this coastal area from which the sea withdrew almost 150 years ago. Over the years, they have become the emblematic showcase of the seaside resort, the recreational, sporting, seaside and fun living space for all visitors. How did they form? Who do they belong to? How were they managed and arranged? What has happened since that winter of 1874 when an unprecedented storm modified the beach and created more than 40 hectares of virgin land, profoundly upsetting the initial appearance of the city, causing Tristan Bernard to say: "Deauville is near Paris, but it's far from the sea!" ?
The exhibition proposed by Yves Aublet and Hubert Moisy, passionate about local history, provides all the answers with amazing historical documents.
An exhibition organized by the Philatelic and Cartophilic Association of Trouville-Deauville.
Opening on Saturday August 6 at 11 a.m.
