The history of Olympism, from its ancient origins to its global influence, presentation of its organization and the crucial role played by Baron Pierre de Coubertin. As part of the Gymnasiades Normandy 2022, the Franciscans are hosting “Olympic Games, on the way to Paris 2024! » an exhibition organized by the National Sports Museum.
Two years before the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the ISF Gymnasiades offers games for young people, by young people, games for everyone!
Sixteen illustrated panels relate the birth of the Paralympic movement, the symbols, the rituals and present the greatest athletes through their unforgettable performances. Two additional panels present the personal collection of Monique Berlioux (1923-2015), international swimming champion who was for 16 years, from 1969 to 1985, Director General of the International Olympic Committee. A collection bequeathed to the Franciscans of Deauville, bringing together medals, striking photographs, collectibles and the very rare album of the controversial games of 1936.
