Perceval Gilles, violin
Sarah Sultan, cello
Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov, piano

The complicity that unites Perceval Gilles, Sarah Sultan and Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov since they created the trio in 2007 is made possible by a common state of mind, based on shared values: integrity and artistic requirement, musical curiosity, simplicity human associated with a deep sense of sharing. The artistic standards of the three musicians are not lost on the great masters who accompany them during their years of training within prestigious European institutions (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, University of Vienna, European Chamber Music Academy). As one of them, Christoph Richter, reports, the Atanassov Trio "bases its interpretations on permanent research, ceaseless work and very clear personal ideas on the works of their repertoire".

From this craftsmanship comes a game whose clarity of speech, unanimously hailed, has allowed the three artists to shine in the main international competitions for piano trio around the world: winner of the Frankfurt and Graz Competitions, the Atanassov trio is also winner of the competitions of Osaka in Japan, Trondheim in Norway, “Joseph Haydn” in Vienna, or “Joseph Joachim” in Weimar (to name only the most important).
These distinctions are the prelude to a career that takes the Trio to perform all over Europe, from the Musikverein in Vienna to the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, via the Wigmore Hall in London, the Ars Musica festival in Brussels. , the Philharmonie de Sofia or, in France, the Folle Journée, the Festival de Radio-France and Montpellier or the Philharmonie de Paris.
The concerts of the Atanassov Trio are often recorded by European radio stations (France Musique, ORF, HR2, Espace 2, Musiq'3, BNR). Its first CD, devoted to Smetana and Dvoák (Hänssler Classics, 2013) has been awarded a Diapason d'or. The Trio's second album, "Chic à la française", was released in November 2019 by Paraty (Debussy, Hersant, Ravel).
When it comes to repertoire, the insatiable curiosity of the three musicians takes them everywhere, from Haydn's early works to today's creation. The Trio draws on this eclecticism to compose programs in which works from different eras and different inspirations are echoed around the same theme.
