THE PAINTING IN NORMANDY COLLECTION FOR THE FRANCISCAN WOMEN

Created in 1992 at the initiative of the Regional Council of Normandy, Alain Tapié, then Curator of the Museum of Fine Arts of Caen and private partners, the association Peindre en Normandie is today rich in 185 works. This unique collection, cultural ambassador of the Normandy Region, has been on deposit with the Franciscans since 2020. Some of the works are exhibited in three thematic Universes: Deauville, Cheval and Art de vivre, and this fall, in the Masters Gallery. Alain Tapié, director of the collection, is responsible for curating exhibitions and creating strong cultural links with partners to promote and distribute this collection in France and abroad. The circle of patrons, members of the association Peindre en Normandie, chaired by Jacques Belin, plays an essential and dynamic role in the acquisition of new works and the implementation of international projects. Thus, after Japan, Latvia, Italy, China is hosting 41 works from the collection, on an itinerant basis, in four major Chinese museums until May 2022.
