Christmas inDeauville: bright activities for a magical holiday

Each year, the effervescence of the end-of-year celebrations remains the same: the wonder at the illuminations, the preparation of the meal, the opening of the gifts placed under the tree and the family celebrations. In December, sparkling lights shine on every street corner, chalets take place in markets, children make their decorations during creative workshops ... Every day, find a new idea to experience a magical December!

Le Do It Yourself comes into our daily lives, to the delight of parents but also of children. The manual and creative workshops represent a gold mine and ideas to develop their dexterity and stimulate their inventiveness while having fun. At the end of the year, nothing better than the Christmas theme and all the magic that surrounds it to give free rein to their imagination. Thus, to Franciscans, everyone makes their own greeting card, writes their most beautiful fairy tale, learns the art of Japanese folding "Origami" and of course creates their Christmas decorations to hang on the tree or hang on the walls.

Throughout the month of December, many other creative Christmas-themed workshops are organized for the youngest, from making a wreath to making a paper snowman.

The countdown to Christmas is officially on! Lack of inspiration for some, list in hand for others, every year during this period, we look for the best gift ideas to put under the tree to pamper our loved ones. InDeauville, artisans and traders are full of good ideas: toys, jewelry, chocolates, spirits, local products, books, scented candles, unusual weekends in a tree house, cooking classes ... all budgets and all tastes.

For the end of the year celebrations, inDeauville is adorned with its most beautiful clothes of light. In the streets of the city center, the starry sky of Place Morny amazes the eyes of visitors at nightfall, garlands shine on the roofs of the villas, town halls are draped in the warm colors of Christmas and Olaf has left the Snow Queen to set up in front of the Villers-sur-Mer school. Whatever the destination, inDeauville shines with a thousand lights!

Marvel at the giant Franciscan tree

____________________

The Christmas spirit continues to spread ... Saturday, December 4, a tree several meters high takes place in the Cloître des Franciscans under the large cloud chandelier, decorated with balls and other XXL garlands. And good news: the public is invited for its very first highlight! Children are then invited to draw their most beautiful tree on a small canvas with markers. They will leave with their achievement under their arms to - perhaps - slip it into shoes.

To stay in shape during the holidays, we fill up on sport! You don't need a high level of intensity, just have fun. InDeauville, it is possible to rent a tennis court indoor or outdoor, swing on a green et Nager in an Olympic basin. More fun, theTree Climbing park awakens the adventurer who sleeps in everyone with his footbridges, suspension bridges, nets and zip lines. Nature lovers look to hiking, in the Blonville-Villers marsh, in the heart of the Saint-Gatien forest or at the foot of the Falaises des Vaches Noires and Roches Noires.

The cultural programming of Franciscans is in the image of the place: singular, astonishing and pleasing. In December, no less than 10 meetings, shows and conferences are scheduled with writers and personalities from the world of culture. Thus, four multi-talented actors alone interpret all the characters of the Dom Juan by Moliere, the exhibition curator Anne-Marie Bergeret tells about Eugène Boudin and his love for Normandy, the pianist Jean-François Zygel shares a poetic recital worn and designed with its own emotions to give life to "musical paintings" by Deauville and Michel Fugain pays tribute to his favorite lyricist Pierre Delanoë for the donation of 130 of his songbooks to the Franciscans.

Live the cultural season of Villers-sur-Mer

____________________

Until June 2022, Villers-sur-Mer vibrates to the rhythm of the events offered for its cultural season. This month the Sharp Casino hosts two major events: the first, a replay of the romantic ballet "Giselle" plunges you directly into the armchairs of the Opéra Garnier in Paris. In the version of Patrice Bart and Eugène Polyakov, faithful to the original choreography of Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot, luminous and terrestrial scenes, nocturnal and spectral visions amaze the spectators. Also, a dinner-show "At the table of Flaubert", proposed by the PMVV Le Grain de Sable Company to honor the greatest name in XNUMXth century literature.

And because 2021 is the bicentenary of the birth of Gustave Flaubert, a contemporary art exhibition "echo to Flaubert" is dedicated to him Villare, whose works come from the collection of L'Artothèque, Espaces d'Art Contemporain de Caen.

Listen to the melodious Christmas carols

Christmas carols are everywhere: on the radio, in stores, sometimes even in our workplace. For a weekend, three concerts are on the program. First at the Saint-Laurent church, where the Feuguerolles Bully Choir takes up sacred pieces and classical works, with Mathilde Marodon as choir director. She then goes to Franciscans, to support thirty choir members from the ASC de Blonville which in turn sing the classic and traditional melodies. In Saint-Gatien-des-Bois, sweet and joyful sounds emanate from the church where the Scamelvilla choir from Equemauville sing the most beautiful Christmas songs to your heart's content.

Spend a day with the horses

____________________

Racetracks, beaches, downtown streets and equestrian centers, the horse is omnipresent inDeauville. To have a first experience with an equine, nothing like a pony baptism or a riding lessons. But the horses also leave their stables to leave for walk on the beach or in the Aubergine countryside, from the Roches Noires cliffs to the Blonville-Villers marshes. More fun and unusual, a carriage pulled by two horses, Get Money Maybe and Esprit de Bel Verne, awaits young and old alike to explore the authentic village of Saint-Pierre-Azif and its surroundings. When it comes to sport, why not go and encourage the jockeys? L'Deauville-La Touques racecourse is always full for its winter meeting and even puts on the colors of Christmas! The alleys of the racetrack are decorated with the silhouettes of red reindeer and their sleds, with garlands and lights. A large tree has been installed in the center of the presentation circle. And during the school holidays, the racecourse organizes guided tours and reveals its backstage, which only professionals know, from the weigh-in room to the stables.

Impressionism, crocodiles, horses, and even giant outdoor photographs, inDeauville lives to the rhythm of the exhibitions! The most essential: Festival planches contact, which amazes with its layout and its XXL photos which take place in the streets and emblematic buildings of Deauville. An invitation to travel, from Normandy to the American east coast, while making a stop on the planet Mars. In Villers-sur-Mer and Saint-Arnoult, animals are in the spotlight: the Paleospace dedicates its temporary exhibition "CROC '! Evolutionary history"to the history of crocrodiles over more than 250 million years and the Pôle International du Cheval Longines - Deauville welcomes the artist's photos Camille Reynaud representing the trades of the horse world exercised by the fairer sex. To the Franciscans, 12 remarkable paintings from the Painting in Normandy collection take place in the gallery dedicated to the Masters of painting, from Delacroix to Dufy via Boudin and Renoir.

Winter gray, temperatures in free fall… Chocolate or mulled wine, make way for Christmas drinks, so delicious and comforting! Sometimes creamy, sometimes spicy, the hot chocolate can be enjoyed in a classic version made with fresh milk, dark chocolate and vanilla sugar or in a Viennese version, topped with a milk foam or whipped cream. With a purple color, the essential mulled wine is a clever blend of which the scent and flavors immediately evoke Christmas.

Once upon a time there was a tall man, from Lapland, sporting a beautiful, long white beard, all dressed in red and wearing black boots. For two days, he stopped over at Franciscans to take the last orders of the children, before meeting his elves for his big tour.
