Ronan Masson

Guest of the festival L'Appel du Large 2021

Ronan Masson (born in 1974) is an artist-designer, graduated from the Beaux-Arts of Nantes. Since the end of his studies, he has produced a series of scenographies for festivals of the underground music scene. These devices, conceived each time as unique pieces, are worked mainly in metal, a kind of installation pushing to the extreme the limits of materials, creating real tensions in space. Metal becomes the reference material of the artist, who explores several territories in parallel: from sculpture to furniture or jewelry design, all his pieces are always conceived as unique or in limited series. The artist plays with scales and symbols, from the sculpture that is placed to the one that is worn, each piece mirrors the other, ready-mades from a poetic and offbeat universe.

As part of the festival L'Appel du Large, which will take place from July 2 to 4, 2021, Ronan Masson presents an installation and a performative work on the port of Deauville entitled"Radeau-Paysage". A form drifts in the port, its facets reflecting clouds, sky and silhouettes. The Radeau-Paysage is a boat made of mirrors that triangulates from one shore to the other, disappearing into the water. Its reflective surfaces reflect images of the landscape back to the viewer, and its gliding is accompanied by sounds collected in nature and reworked live.
