Marchand & Meffre
Photographer invited to the festival Planches Contact 2011

Born respectively in 1981 and 1987 in the Paris region, Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre began their own photography careers in 2001. Fascinated by architecture and ruins, they published the book Detroit, vestiges of the American dream in 2010, which was a critical and commercial success. Their vision of the city goes beyond aesthetics, and is as much sociological as it is urbanistic. As young talents, they are invited to Deauville to show us all the places dedicated to the horse: racecourses, stables, weighing rooms, veterinary clinics. With exhibitions in Sweden and Paris, they are beginning to make a name for themselves not only in the photographic world, but also in that of urban planning and architecture.
This is one of their first commissions, and their choice is a bet on the future, on the young generation of up-and-coming photographic artists.
