ARQANA organizes horse sales in two race disciplines: flat and trotting. These sales are held all year round in two auction sale houses: the Elie de Brignac in Deauville and the Manège Boussac of the Saint-Cloud racecourse. In Deauville, about ten sales are yearly scheduled. On of them is the August Yearling Sale dedicated to English thoroughbred horses. It is the most prestigious sale, attracting professionals coming from all over the world.

Arqana, leader in racehorse auction sales.

Deauville is ranked first in France and second in Europe in the yearling horse auction sector. Countless stars of the grass fields have been sold at auction during the famous "Deauville sales", that have recently become a renowned label in the racing world. The Elie de Brignac house hosted its first auction in 1892. Currently managed by the Arqana company, it organizes every year three yearling (less than 2-year-old horses) sales, two on training and “ready to run” horse sales, three breeding and mixed sales and three trotter sales.

Remaining at a safe distance from horses, take a look into the establishment during an auction sale. The horse presentation ring and auction sales are fascinating.

The Salle Elie de Brignac house, covered in wood, has a high sound quality. Concerts take place here twice per year: the Easter Festival and the Musical August.

Tour of the backstage of August Sales

During the traditional races held at the Deauville-La Touques racecourse, over 300 colts and fillies, mainly coming from prestigious Norman stud farms, will be parading in the ring. In 2019, Deauville recorded an extraordinary sale: a yearling was auctioned for 1.6 million euros. It is the daughter of Dubawi, a star stallion regarded as one of the best in the world.
