THE VIDEO OF THE WEEK Yesterday we received some videos from Cécile Laguette
on the boat Deauville.
Small postcards made during the first stage that plunge into the world of the race and the
into the world of the race and the daily life of the skippers. This was her longest
sailing in a solo race. She left on Sunday 19th at 1pm and sailed a faultless course until Tuesday evening, finishing in 24th place.
It was at the Lizard Cape lighthouse that her luck ran out: no wind and a contrary current made her lose all her lead. It took a few minutes and it was impossible to get back up. The experience was disappointing for the ranking but intense.
She progressed, sailing better and better. Her sleep management allowed her to stay focused on the goal: crossing the finish line. The rule is strict: 30% is added to the time achieved by the winner to define at what time the race will close. Cécile managed to pass two hours before and to be ranked 37th.
