Joel Meyerowitz met Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Frank. This was a revelation for this advertising man, who then became a photographer. Walking the streets of New York to cross the United States, he made his mythical photos of street photographer. His inextinguishable curiosity led him to Europe in the mid-sixties where his style was affirmed. Back in Cape Cod, he switched from a discreet Leica to a large wooden camera, discovering another way of photographing, no longer on the spot but playing with exposure times and space. As a Pisces, he has a carnal relationship with water and the sea, which has inspired his portraits as well as his landscapes and swimming pools, which will be presented on the beach in Deauville.
He was among the first photographers to dare to sell color photography on the art market in 1970.
