Planches Contact #14
FIVE SECTIONS TO DISCOVER
Created in 2010 on the initiative of the City of Deauville, the Planches Contact Festival invites a selection of photographers to an annual creative residency, inviting them to take a unique look at Deauville and the surrounding area...
This festival of photographic creations - recently opened to video - is presented in five parts: exhibitions by photographers in residence, exhibitions by guest photographers, the Tremplin Jeunes Talents, exhibitions by photo4food photographers and the Longines 25thHour Photo Competition.
Guest photographers in residence
Founded on the idea of giving priority to creative residencies and public commissions, Planches Contact's theme is the exploration and reproduction of everything that makes up the identity of a town and the surrounding area. Year after year, photographers turn their gaze to Deauville and the surrounding region, exhibiting their singular vision.
Guest photographers
The photographers invited to the Planches Contact Festival exhibit work they have produced elsewhere or in other timeframes. Echoing the festival, their photographic work adds other ways of looking at the world.
Photographers from the Photo4food foundation
A partner of the festival for the past three years, the young Photo4food foundation, committed to the promotion of photography and the fight against poverty, exhibits five photographers of its choice each year at the Planche(s) Contact Festival. They follow the same itinerary as the photographers in residence. Their photos of Normandy are then sold at an evening auction to benefit the Côte Fleurie French Red Cross.
Le Tremplin Jeunes Talents
A constant feature of all Deauville's cultural festivals, Planches Contact's support for young talent takes the form of a competition open from the outset to students of European photography schools, and then to young photographers of all backgrounds. Hosted in residence in Deauville, they produce a photographic work on the town, presented to the public during the Festival and submitted to the vote of image professionals and the public, the Festival jury, chaired by Sarah Moon.
La 25e heure Longines competition
Associated with the Planches Contact Festival, the Longines 25th Hour Competition is open to all, on the night of the last Saturday in October, to mark the changeover to winter time.
