SCHOOL DAYS

Teenagers love to read, especially when the books are in tune with their musical tastes! The attendance record for the school days is constantly being beaten: in 2023, 3,000 teenagers are expected in Deauville! The days of April 6 and 7 will be dedicated to schoolchildren with dozens of workshops, meetings, and also discovery visits of the Franciscaines and its exhibitions in order to stimulate the taste for reading in children and teenagers. The school days are a unique cultural and educational event.

An initiative that does not date from yesterday...

In 1997, Deauville established a real book policy with the ambition of making young people love literature - the first key to culture. This policy took the form of meetings, readings and writing workshops, and promised to bring words to life through sharing, to make them accessible to the greatest number of people, and to bring books into every home. On a foundation composed of demanding and singular meetings, of a committed book club, of teachers who play the game, the desire to go further and create a great literary event was born. This was to be the Festival Livres & Musiques, one of whose priorities was to make young people love books.
