The piers

Touques estuary

In order to facilitate access to the harbor, the town of Trouville built two squared oak piers in 1846 (several years before the birth of Deauville) to canalize the channel. The work was financed in part by a subscription from sailors and Trouville residents.

Intended to signal the entrance of the channel, two lights were placed at the end of each pier. Bombed during the Second World War, the west and east piers were rebuilt in 1952 and 1963 respectively.
