CREATING SPACE
Inside, the building's decompartmentalization opens up onto itself. From a space structured into small rooms, we move into a large horizontal space that invites us to move around. The building's layout is deliberately simple, fluid and transparent. Decompartmentalization responds to the idea of pooling collections and resources, whatever their nature (works, books, music, films, documents, sounds...). This is the raison d'être of the Franciscans. It's not a question of putting objects in a building. The challenge is to enable visitors to encounter works of art.
