The Franciscans receive a first donation from the Association of Friends of the Franciscans

For this first donation, the association chose a work by Pierre et Gilles. It was unveiled on Saturday, October 29, in the presence of Philippe Augier, on the second floor of the Franciscaines, in the universe dedicated to Deauville.
Recently exhibited at the Spritmuseum, Sweden, the work represents Mica Argañaraz, Argentine model and artist, in a romantic and whimsical marine world. This photograph is part of a series specially conceived for the exhibition Troubled Waters, gathering romantic images of the sea, the port and the life of a sailor, opposing the overexploitation of our time, which threatens to eradicate all marine life.
TWO WORLD FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHERS
Photographer Pierre Commoy and painter Gilles Blanchard, originally from Le Havre, have created a sumptuous universe where photography and painting meet. Their portraits are populated with friends and celebrities, in magnificent and dramatically lit scenes, constructed on a grand scale. Between reality, dreams and fantasies, the images are full of symbols and references to cinema, pop music, religion, mythology, fairy tales. A spectacular iconography at the border between art history and popular culture.

A 1st acquisition by the association of the friends of the Franciscans
Since 2015, the association of the friends of the Franciscaines has set itself the mission of accompanying the development of the Franciscaines museum and the cultural life in Deauville. "The work of Pierre et Gilles is of very high quality and consistent with the cultural project of the Franciscaines, that of decompartmentalizing the arts and making culture accessible to all," Pierre-Alain de Malleray, president of the association.
