The Off of Planche(s) Contact #10

Every year, the "Off" section of Planche(s) Contact hosts photographic exhibitions produced by photographers who live in Deauville for part of the year, or by collectives and associations of photography enthusiasts. Deauville and its components remain the central theme of this program, which is carried out by photographers who know the town and its atmosphere very well. The exhibitions take place in private locations, galleries, hotels... from October 19th to January 5th.

The exhibitions

Alexis Cottin

Alexis COTTIN - Cracks
They are the best in their discipline. These "cracks" wear a different helmet for each race. Like modern knights, they defend the colors of a stable during 3 intense minutes.
This series by Alexis Cottin presented for the second time in Deauville, was the subject of a first exhibition at the Deauville-La Touques racecourse in August 2015.

Galerie du Casino - Shop entrance
Open daily 10am-2am, Friday 10am-3am, Saturday 10am-4am.

Evelyne Brun

Evelyne BRUN - Double games
Double jeux is the story of a meeting; a meeting between the photographer Evelyne Brun and the photographer invited to the festival for this edition: Nicolas Comment. A meeting on shots where Evelyne Brun came with her whippets during the photographer's residence. But above all, a photographic encounter where the photographer's series evokes the shooting sessions while telling a new story. A meeting and sweetness.

Then weekends until November 24.

Pascal Rete

Pascal RETE - Icon
The approach of the photographer Pascal Rete is to question the "waste" as an object, matter. It is in this approach that the photographer looks for where the waste is abandoned, he collects it, and uses it in order to understand the context of manufacture, circulation and use in our contemporary society. With his series Icone, all the elements photographed were collected on the beach of Deauville, then magnified by a contrasting black and white.

Christian Deroche

Christian DEROCHE - Deauville, The Boards
With this series, Christian Deroche revisits the mythical boards of Deauville in an atmosphere that is almost painting-like. Playing with colors, blurs and shapes, the photographer makes us discover his pictorial vision of the boards.

Henri Carabajal

Henri CARABAJAL - The agents in collodion
It is with the old technique of collodion that the photographer Henri Carabajal sublimated the municipal agents of the city of Deauville. Henri Carabajal works exclusively with silver and focuses on old photographic techniques, particularly the camera. This timeless work presents in a sensitive way the faces of the municipality.

The little photographers - 26th hour and workshop
The Planche(s) Contact festival gives an important place to young audiences and school audiences in its mediations and interventions. During the year 2019, a group of students from the Fracasse school worked on the notion of portraiture and self-representation. From theory to practice, these young photographers have appropriated the camera to reveal inventive and surprising portraits.

Fracasse School, 42 rue Albert Fracasse.
Open air exhibition.
