LE IN DU FESTIVAL PLANCHE(S) CONTACT
With the founding idea of giving priority to creative residencies and public commissions, Planche(s) Contact's theme is the exploration and restitution of all that constitutes the identity factors of a city. Year after year, the invited photographers look at Deauville and exhibit their singular vision. Discover the photographers who will take a look at Deauville, from October 21 to November 26, 2017.
AGNES B.
Visions of Deauville
Agnès b. has had a long and friendly relationship with Deauville. Invited for a carte blanche at the American Film Festival in 2012, she has immersed herself in the town on several occasions. For the first time, she presents a new side of her attachment to the seaside town, with surprising, colorful and sensitive photographs that she made during various stays. She has also invited two photographers, as associate artistic director of the Festival, to come and produce a work on Deauville: Emma Charrin and Céline Villegas.

FRANÇOISE HUGUIER
IT'S NOT LOGICAL, BUT IT'S NORMAL
FromPhantom Africa to Polar Siberia, from the communal apartments of Saint Petersburg to the corners of Seoul, and even to the margins of Greater Paris, Françoise Huguier's intimate approach is part of a documentary and sociological photography, turned towards the other. In Deauville, where she was invited for the 8th edition of Planche(s) Contact, she went to meet the poorest families of Deauville, those who live in the 32% of social housing in the city. An intimate and sensitive dive, always respectful, in a part of the daily life in Deauville. Here, each person tells his or her story, each image reveals his or her history.
EXHIBITION SPACE : LE POINT DE VUE
At the corner of rue Tristant Bernard and boulevard de la Mer.
Open every day from October 21 to November 5, then Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 am to 1 pm and from 2:30 pm to 7 pm.

CLAUDE NORI
Deauville, dolce vita !
From the Italian beaches to the Basque coast, Claude Nori's images are those of the dolce vita. His photobiographical quest revolves around the baths and pools of Deauville. She feeds off a look, a smile, the curve of a skirt, happy people, an encounter. It is so strong and so difficult at the same time to photograph a happiness which passes and runs away too quickly!
EXHIBITION SITE : PROMENADE LUCIEN BARRIÈRE
Access by the boulevard Eugène Colas.
Open air exhibition.

VASANTHA YOGANANTHAN
MERIPHERY
Vasantha Yogananthan is part of this young generation that blurs the lines between reality and fiction. In Deauville, he went to meet the families who live on the beach for a day. This series of portraits, made with a camera, favors the long time and the staging. His use of color, in almost neutral pastel tones, gives an unexpected softness to these scenes of life, and a symbolic force to these portraits of men and women who make the beach of Deauville, a succession of personal stories.
PLACE OF EXHIBITION : SMALL BASIN
Adjacent to the Claude Lelouch square, in front of the municipal tennis courts.
Open air exhibition.
LYNDA LAIRD
IN THE DARK
Winner of the Louis Roederer Foundation Prize in 2016, Lynda Laird returns to Deauville for a new photographic commission and a creative residency. Lynda Laird approaches Deauville through the prism of its history. After the memory of Les Franciscaines establishment in 2016, this year she is more specifically interested in the sensitive imprints of the Second World War that still survive in our daily environment, our buildings, and our minds.

Seabed
Laisses de mer is a photographic project that records the state of affairs. Word by word what the sea leaves, finds - treasures and miseries - natural and anthropic. The images, like a new archaeology of the sea, are not retouched. They are meant to be traces. Only the radical choice of black and white and the emotion of silver will indicate the possibility of another path.
PLACE OF EXHIBITION : VILLA ROXELANE
At the corner of boulevard Cornuché and rue Edmond Blanc.
Open every day from October 21 to November 5, then on Saturdays and Sundays from 3 to 6 pm.
EMMA CHARRIN
THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT
Fascinated by the show and the setting, Emma Charrin's photographic series sows the seeds of trouble between real life and dream life. Inspired by the euphoria of Deauville in the Roaring Twenties, Emma Charrin questions the position of the inhabitant, actor, spectator. In this dreamed city, in the rhythm of the night, are we awake or asleep? Is this border between fiction and reality perceptible? Physical, moral, psychological, social border? It is up to the spectator to find his place.

CELINE VILLEGAS
WE HAVE TO COME BACK
The seaside world never ceases to inspire Céline Villegas, who is used to portraits of the territory. Full of mischief, her photographs take hold of the aquatic environment, cutting out fragments of suspended bodies and scenes full of poetry in this closed environment. The contrast of colors and materials, and these funny scenes caught on the spot arouse the imagination. A warm and singular look at reality, without any documentary aim. An invigorating and light dive into the baths of Deauville.
