The washhouse of Vauville borders the stream called "La Fontaine Teauvillaise". Until the 1960s, before the houses were connected to the drinking water network, the washhouse was used by the inhabitants to wash their clothes and exchange news. It was also used to wash the apple bags at the end of the cider harvest and the cloths for the pomace from the horse press after the brewing process. The men soaked the bags for one or two days, then brushed and rinsed them.
