"A laboratory to observe the territory through pictures"
Planche(s) Contact is currently considered as one of the rare creation festivals and an authentic laboratory to observe the territory through pictures. For the first time, the Festival also covers the region: photographers in residency are invited to explore not only the city, but also the coast, the countryside and the surrounding urban areas. Moreover, the Festival - creation and observation laboratory focused on the evolution of photographic genres - has been questioning how photographs should be exhibited and presented. Given that the Franciscaines museum - attaching much importance to photography - is not open yet, Deauville has been explored again to look for new places that may host photo exhibitions, such as the Strassburger Villa, the Hôtel Barrière Le Normandy or outdoor areas like abandoned buildings, the diving board, the swimming pool... We have also done our best to match each exhibition with the place in which it is held. This year, the city places greater emphasis on the Festival, extended not just until November, but until the beginning of January 2020.
