THE VELOMARITIME, FROM BRITTANY TO THE GATES OF BELGIUM
Three regions, eight departments, 1,500 km... The latest national bicycle route, the Vélomaritime sees the coasts in a big way! From Roscoff on the tip of Brittany to Bray-Dunes in the Hauts-de-France, the itinerary is 100% continuous and crosses green valleys, fishing villages, chalk cliffs and harbors with character. Among the exceptional sites, the Pink Granite Coast, the Mont-Saint-Michel, the D-Day landing beaches, the cliffs of Etretat, the Bay of the Somme and the Opal Coast will amaze the cyclotourists. With each pedal stroke, the cycle route offers a mosaic of viewpoints close to the sea.
inDeauville is the stage that links Cabourg to Deauville. This section is 32 km long and takes 2 hours and 8 minutes to complete for those who are used to it. From the town beloved of Marcel Proust, the cabins and umbrellas pass by, as well as the seaside villas of the Belle Epoque that extend to Houlgate. A few hundred meters away, the Cliffs of the Black Cowsand the cliffs of the Vaches Noires, which extend as far as Villers-sur-Mer. After a few more sustained efforts, the route offers a beautiful reward: the Mont-Canisy and its 360° panorama on the sea and the Augean countryside. Then, the descent to the coast begins via Tourgéville, using the green way of Saint-Arnoult to reach the beach of Deauville and its mythical promenade des Planches.
