THE GREEN BANK OF THE TOUQUES RIVER
This new green promenade is located in the Touques peninsula. At the entrance to Deauville, facing the sea and running alongside the Touques River, this district enjoys an exceptional location that is well known to its residents, but often overlooked by visitors. Now landlocked and partly undeveloped, the town of Deauville has launched a major urban redevelopment project. The aim is to transform this 6.3-hectare area into a lively, year-round district. To the east, a green bank has been laid out, respecting the surrounding natural environment. It runs from the Pont des Belges to the sea.
The landscaped park along the Touques is a key element of the Presqu'île project. Completely recomposed, it stretches along the Touques and down to its estuary. It is divided into two paths: a "grand site" path opening onto the Touques and the surrounding landscape, and a discovery path penetrating the vegetation thanks to a 99-metre-long azobe wood landing stage. On the "grand site" trail, a selection of images of Deauville by photographers invited each year to the Festival Planche(s) Contact.
The choice of plants and trees reinforces the natural environments of the peninsula, combining varieties adapted to the seaside environment to create micro-environments conducive to biodiversity.
