ARQANA, THE FIRST FRENCH THOROUGHBRED SALES AGENCY
ARQANA organizes horse sales in the two racing disciplines of gallop and trot. They take place throughout the year in two sales establishments, the Elie de Brignac establishment in Deauville and the Boussac riding school at the Saint-Cloud racecourse. At Deauville, among the ten or so sales, the August Yearling Sale dedicated to English thoroughbreds is the most prestigious. It attracts professionals from all over the world.
Arqana, the leader in racehorse auctions
Deauville is the number one yearling auction site in France and the second in Europe! The number of stars from the grassy tracks that have been sold at the famous "Deauville sales" is countless and has become a true label of quality in the racing world. The Elie de Brignac hall had its first sale in 1892. Today, run by the Arqana company, it hosts three sales devoted to yearlings (horses under 2 years of age), two to horses in training and horses "ready to run", three to breeding and mixed sales and three sales of trotters.
Keeping your distance from the horses, take a look around the facility at auction time. The horse presentation ring and the auctions are captivating!
The Elie de Brignac Hall, covered with wood, has a great acoustic quality. It is also a place for concerts twice a year on the occasion of the Easter Festival and theMusical August.

Alongside the historic races on the Deauville-La Touques racecourse, over 300 colts and fillies, most of them from top Normandy stud farms, parade in the ring. In 2023, Deauville set a new record: a yearling was sold for 4 million euros, making it the most expensive horse ever sold in France!
