The Gallery of Creators : the crafts have their house in Touques

Michel Laborde is president of the association "Création, culture en pays d'Auge". Dominique Laborde is in charge of organizing his exhibitions. A core group of a dozen volunteers work with them to promote contemporary artistic creation.

Dominique and Michel Laborde welcome art lovers to their gallery in Touques
All volunteers, they organize fairs in various locations in Normandy or take part in other events. What motivates them is to ensure that contemporary creations are seen and appreciated more widely. The town of Touques, which cultivates its image as a welcoming place for artists and craftsmen, has opened its arms to them. While they remain autonomous, the aura of the area is a great help to them.
Thanks to the city, it now has a permanent exhibition and sales space in the arts district. Around Place Saint Pierre, artisans and artists are welcome to work and exhibit. Next to the Galerie des Arts, the presbytery now houses a street art gallery. Behind the church, several artists' studios regularly open their doors. A real boost for creativity.
Their leitmotiv: to exhibit as many materials as possible - ceramics, glass, wood, cardboard, paper - and to renew the exhibitions every two months, so as to welcome every weekend - from Thursday to Sunday - a number of visitors whom they have managed to win over. Dominique and Michel are keen to identify ways of boosting the gallery's attendance. They regularly organize mini-conferences and workshops, such as those bringing together a chef and a ceramist, the former using the latter's dishes.
Visitors enjoy discovering more than just the objects, the artists and their worlds.

A passion for objets d'art

Dominique and Michel Laborde settled permanently in Touques after several years working in Paris. Initially, Touques was their weekend destination. They organize exhibitions there. It's the common thread running through a lifetime dedicated to artists who find it very difficult to exhibit their work.
A few years ago, Dominique Laborde was in charge, among other things, of developing licensed accessories for the famous Carita hairdressing brand. She called on designers to propose ranges of jewelry, accessories and scarves, creating a brand universe imbued with creativity. Eventually, she moved to the other side of the fence and set up her own company to create and distribute artistic products. She exhibits them in her boutique in the gardens of the Palais Royal. With Michel, they also began organizing art fairs held in the Hôtel du Louvre. Production manager at Ogilvy, Michel is also attracted to artistic creation. He designs communications.
