Friday, April 7 - SCHOOL DAY
Literature is the place par excellence for discovery, exchange and initiation to the world and its cultures. Since its inception, the Festival Livres & Musiques has been committed to promoting access to books for all audiences, especially the youngest. Words and notes are invited into classrooms, from kindergarten to high school, throughout the year. This work with teachers leads to a day entirely dedicated to the school public: nearly 3,000 students, from kindergarten to high school, come to Deauville to share, for the duration of a meeting, a strong and privileged moment with the invited artists.
On the program for the day: the Teenagers' Prize, a musical show and dozens of meetings and workshops... As many formats as subjects addressed for the 3-18 years old, with always at the heart of the discussions, the passion of the book and the love of the music!

En 2017, les enfants partiront en voyage en Haïti à la découverte de la culture créole avec La Compagnie Tropique du Cancer.
De l’autre côté de l’Atlantique se trouve un vaste archipel au carrefour des voies maritimes entre l’Europe, l’Afrique et l’Amérique. Ainsi se sont forgées les Antilles, bigarrées, chaleureuses et tumultueuses, et l’identité créole qui les relient du nord au sud. Originaire d’Haïti, la magnifique chanteuse Moonlight Benjamin retrouve pour ce spectacle la saveur des contes de son enfance. On y suit au son du cuatro et des steel drums les aventures de Mabouya, le petit lézard cherchant à comprendre « d’où il vient et où il va ». Drôlerie et satire sociale se mêlent dans la plus pure tradition antillaise, où l’on n’oublie pas, derrière l’esprit de fête, les heures sombres de l’esclavage et de la colonisation.

WORKSHOPS & MEETINGS
A vast program for all ages, from kindergarten to high school. Workshops and meetings take place at the Centre International de Deauville and at the Villa Le Cercle in a space entirely designed for young readers, in the presence of publishing houses, children's bookstores, authors and illustrators.
