Jean-Pierre Melville

Casino Barriere in Deauville
Place of the casino

DEAUVILLE

In the summer of 1955, the breakage of the casino inspired Jean-Pierre Melville "Bob the flambeur", his first detective film. He had written the screenplay in 1950 and was waiting to be able to shoot it. The last 15 minutes of the film are shot in the square and in the casino. The film becomes cult and the very personal writing of Jean-Pierre Melville a universe of reference for the American directors of the years 199O.
