Deauville's first photographer

Eugène Villette was born on November 13, 1826 in Meung-sur-Loire (Loiret) and died on October 22, 1895 in Deauville. This excellent Parisian portrait painter opened a photographic studio in Deauville in the 1860s. His establishment in Deauville, for 35 years, resulted in the first inventory in images of all the villas and new constructions in this city. Winner of numerous prizes and medals in national and international exhibitions, his passion for the development of shooting and laboratory techniques have made a photographer representative of his generation, such as Carjat, Disdéri or Nadar.
