Story 8: Going out to sea

Story 8: Going out to sea
Sandrine Boyer-Engel

InDeauville has sea legs. The taste for cross-Channel regattas came very quickly.
A happy stopover town for the Tour de France à la voile in 2013, an anchor town for the Cowes-Deauville
which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2021, and has twice welcomed the sailors of the Solitaire du Figaro.

As the gateway to the Bay of Seine and the English Channel, Deauville has a reputation for technical sailing.
Between major events, the Deauville Yacht Club and its sailing school
are on hand to organize regattas, outings and sailing lessons on liveaboards.

With a total of 1,250 moorings, the area's two harbors - Port-Deauville and Port Municipal - offer a large capacity and a wide range of services.
offer great capacity and an exceptional downtown environment.
Light sailing is also practiced in Villers-sur-Mer and Blonville-sur-Mer
where the Pôle Nautique Villers-Blonville offers catamaran courses all year round.

Going from Deauville to Trouville-sur-Mer by boat and vice versa is child's play. Board the Trait d'Union, a small boat that links the two resorts when the tide is high. Anecdote: it is the shortest crossing in France with 220 meters in three minutes!
