Recognized as one of the most beautiful in France, Golf Barrière Deauville offers the privilege of swinging on the heights of Deauville, with the sea and the Auvergne countryside as the only horizon. Architects Tom Simpson and Henry Cotton designed two courses on a 70-hectare site: the Lucien Barrière (9 holes - 3038 m) and the Diane Barrière (18 holes - 5968 m). A true Championship Golf Course, Golf Barrière Deauville has played host to champions such as Gary Player, Tony Jacklin and Peter Fowler. The Barrière Deauville Golf Academy enhances the golf offer with top-level teaching and technology, for beginners and advanced players alike, through courses and private lessons.
Saint-Gatien
For a swing in the forest, head for the Golf de Deauville Saint-Gatien and its 100-hectare estate. Since 1988, the golf course has welcomed players from all over the world on three visually stunning courses, alternating between forest and Seine estuary. Firstly, "La Vallée" (9 holes - 2977 m), which demands precision and a full range of technical skills to cope with the uneven terrain. On the "La Bergerie" course (9 holes - 3198 m), players slalom between flowering rough and large bunches of fir trees. The latest of the three, "La Chapelle" (9 holes - 2956 m) is an excellent test of strategy. Dedicated to teaching, the five-hole "Parcours Vert" is ideal for adult novices and juniors at the NextGen Golf School.
A haven of peace and nature, L'Amirauté Golf is like no other. Its architect, Bill Baker, has created a superb championship course set between ponds, vast greens and groves; swans and migratory birds have even found refuge here. A veritable open-air museum, the "Parcours des Arts" (18 holes - 6089 m) owes its name to the monumental contemporary sculptures that line the course. A change of scenery is guaranteed with the "Parcours des Étangs" (9 holes - 1982 m), ideal for beginners or advanced players. The most original? The "Parcours des Étoiles" (9 holes - 2155 m), which lights up at night so you can continue playing golf even when the sun goes down.
In the heart of the Pays d'Auge, Golf Barrière Saint-Julien is located on a 90-hectare estate. Its architects, Alain Pratt and Bill Baker, have designed two courses in a totally British spirit: "Le Vallon" (18 holes - 6035 m), a championship course, where numerous water features meander mischievously along the fairways and greens, and "Le Bocage" (9 holes - 2258 m), aptly named for the quality of its landscapes, established for less experienced players. To improve your game, individual lessons and training courses are taught by Stéphanie Dallongeville, a professional player for 25 years on the European circuit.
