After studying economics, Mikhaël Hers entered La Fémis, from which he graduated in 2004. He then directed three medium-length films: Charell, presented at the Semaine de la Critique 2006, Primrose Hill, presented at the Semaine de la Critique 2007, and Montparnasse, presented and awarded at the Directors' Fortnight 2009, and winner of the Jean Vigo Prize. After Memory Lane, presented at the Locarno Film Festival 2010, Ce sentiment de l'été, presented at the Rotterdam Film Festival 2016, and Amanda, presented at the Venice Film Festival 2018 and winner of the Grand Prix of the Tokyo Film Festival 2018, Les Passagers de la nuit, his fourth feature film, is currently in post-production.
