Haras d'Ecajeul

In the heart of the Pays d'Auge, a few kilometers from Crèvecœur-en-Auge, Jean-Luc and Isabelle Bara are happy to welcome visitors to their family stud farm, the cradle of thoroughbred horses for over 70 years. In this green setting of about 50 hectares, mares and stallions live together for the reproduction and the breeding of foals, the breaking-in and the pre-training.

It is one of the few stud farms to open its doors for a guided tour of its facilities. It all starts in the courtyard, with a presentation of the Pays d'Auge and the quality of its soil for breeding. During the visit, the whole life cycle of the horse is explained (the mating, the birth in spring, the training, the races) as well as the jobs of the equitation. But what is most interesting is the original and famous method used by Jean-Luc for breaking-in: the whispering method, revealed in the film "The man who whispered in the ear of horses". Intriguing!
