At the end of the 19th century, Villers-sur-mer became a popular destination where Parisian high society could have sea baths. The seafront is designed to offer an enjoyable tour in which you can appreciate original villas, built in older times to impress and assert one’s social status. Like theatres and operas of the 19th century, the seaside resorts were popular places to celebrate social life. Go along the streets that often bear the name of the pioneers of Villers and discover some anecdotes about the town.

The Saint-Martin Church of Villers-sur-mer and its glass walls

from April to October
As it was too small to welcome summer tourists, the church received donations by parishioners and parish priests and was rebuilt after 1872. Its glass walls are classified as “Monuments historiques”. These glass walls, made by Duhamel-Marette studio from Évreux, are one of the Basse-Normandie masterpieces of the end of the 19th century.
